Today I had a great day with my pal Daniel Burgess (a Welsh cyclist).
175 kms 2.880 m.

We made a little trip to Namur. Similar to the official Namur Tour but with some changes to make the trip harder, with more climbs and with the BIGs of the area.
We started the trip taking the train to go to Namur.
Started climbing the citadel from the back.
Daniel with the Euskaltel Euskadi cap… great taste.
The first of third BIGs of the day “Triple mur Monty”.
And the third mur was really hard!
The next wall, also a BIG, was “La Gallole”.
But the descent was harder with their pave.
The castle of Crupet is very nice.
In Spontin we passed near the castle but we couldn’t see it.
Then we took an offroad trail.
But that was closed!! And we needed to go back.
And we rode a difficult wall again.
But here some of them don’t have descent.
Only a vast plateau, windswept…
Luckily today we almost didn’t have wind.
In Dinant, we had the hardest wall of the spin; “Montagne de la Croix”.
Really hard! with 300 m at 21%!!
Then it wasn’t as hard but wasn’t easy either.
After a few more climbs, of course.
And the Vevés Castle.
The biggest of Veves Castle (Chateu Vevés) is on the top of the hill, but it’s private and we can’t visit it.
Non stop! My lunch was better than a power bar.
Returning by Dintet
Through that amazing natural door
And we continue the tour on a bike trail.
There are train tracks.
and on them some “human locomotive”!!! Really nice.
another small climb gave us access to a couple of churches fortified in the wood.
One is “Le college Saint Benoït” and the second that we could see was a Monastery.
And to finish, the Namur Citadel climb!
The climb is very photogenic.
Photo at the top of the citadel.
and a picture of us at the end.
I still intend to visit Spontin Castle, Namur is very nice and relatively near here, so I hope to repeat a similar route. It’s hard, but very varied and beautiful.
Today we had a great day! This is the first of a few intense weekends.
Muy chulo!
